The Practical Bit
When are the race days?
Chester races from May to September, and the May Festival and Ladies Day are the biggest days of our year. The full fixture list is on the racecourse website; our advice applies to all of them equally — book early.
Do you charge more on race days?
Booths and areas are held with a minimum spend on race days. Given the average round on Ladies Day, this is less a hurdle than a head start.
What time do you open?
Race day hours flex with the fixtures — from 11am. We're open before the first race and long after the last one.
Can we walk in?
You can try, and some succeed. But a race day at The Guild is like the 2.15 itself: the smart money gets on early.
How far is the racecourse?
A few minutes on foot, all downhill on the way there. The return journey is uphill, which is why we sell champagne at the top.
